My Mini Microbes Farms

for these last 2 or 3 weeks  we had to learn a lot i mean a lot about the digestive system and it felt like it only took like 3 day it went super fast here is my work and if you find something funny please write that down.

Digestion

The way the food is munched and squash into tiny particles that you poop and pee out. Why does my tummy rumble? What is really going on inside of my body? Today, I’m going to take you on a journey alongside trillions and billions of microbes living inside of the human body hotel to see how the digestive system happens. To the microbes- human  relationship is perfect– symbiosis. What a team!

Munching mouth

The digestive process begins in the mouth. Firstly when you pop a piece of food into your mouth, it becomes a zooming frenzy of activity. To begin the teeth munch and crunch your food into tiny particles. Then microscopic workers, which are microbes, produce enzyme farms which mix with saliva to Instantly break down the yummy food down. In addition the saliva helps to lubricate so it is easier and better to swallow. What a team!

The Food Slide

When you swallow, the tongue, which is a big muscle, shoves your food down your throat and into a long muscle called the oesophagus. At this point the food is squashed, moshed and mushed into the stomach though a propelling motion called the peristalsis. Peristalsis is a series of waves-like muscle contractions that moves the food though. Its Like ripples in a river. What a team

The Rumbling Machine

The food doesn’t take a long time to get to the stomach but after it hangs in your tummy with all your microbes for four hours wow that’s a long time. It’s like being in a bouncy castle and jumping round and round. When food enters your stomach your Muscles  it pounds and swirl the gastric juices your food round and it makes it into a creamy liquid. These nutrients include fat in nuts, carbohydrates found in bead protein is found in meats and vitamins in broccoli. What a team

The not so small intestine

This is an unusual intestine because the small intestine is actually six meters long. Can you believe that the small intestine is  six meters! These things are extracted from your s.i into your bloodstream and arrived round the body  through the circulatory system like a friend delivering you gifts. The velvety lining of the S.I contains lots of tiny folds that act like a giant nut remnant  sponge as a result humans can possess up to six to twelve lives of nutrients every single day. Welcome to the gut garden.

The Large Intestine

My favourite place is the gut garden. It is like a giant  microbes  party that teenagers would host in your body. 99% of your body is microbes set to work breaking down all of your foods. Inside the luggage intestine the colon absorbs water from leftover waste for the body to reuse. What a team!

This is where it all goes down

We have reached the final destination. This leftover waste solidifies and pushed along the sigmoid colon to the rectum I need to go to the loo to  take a number two when the rectum is full, a message is transmitted via the nerves in the sphincter to tell your brain you may need to use the loo muscles around the rectum relax and your abdominal muscles help push your face out. You may have to poop! What a team!

Did you learn something new from this blog post?

Super Smart Science Roadshow

Yesterday we had a visit from the Science Roadshow. The focus of the session was Sound Waves.

Some of the main messages about Sound Waves were how they work and if you a car goes past you the sound is pitch and when the car is a long away from you the sound is quieter and sound waves can go up and down .

Something I enjoyed the most was the spinning chair because you had some weights and when you put the weights closter the chair goes faster and when you put the weights far away the chair goes slower.

My favourite part of the Science Roadshow was when we got to see sound waves but in fire because watching the flame were super cool.

Something I will take away from this visit was that chux is worse granule because granule suck out all of the water.

If you could go to the Science Roadshow what would you do first?

Fantastic PBL Performance

The driving question for our PBL over Term 2 and part of this Term has been, “How can we as performing artists communicate positive messages to an audience?”

We learnt about The Arts, in particular the elements of Dance, Drama and Music. We read a number of fables or fairy tales and learnt about their positive message. We then took this learning and applied it to our own play writing script.

In my group there was Ben, Honor and Kian and we planned out what our script, and fairy tale was going to be. Click here to see our planning document.

Once we had planned our ideas, we started to write our play writing script. The fairy tale or fable our script is based on is the 3 little pigs. The positive message that we wanted the audience to take away was never trust strangers.

The Google Slide shows everyone’s performance in Tumu, my group’s performance is on slide 3.

Something that I enjoyed about this project was the performance because it was really fun to record

Something that I found challenging or would change about this project was having to discuss with my group members because we all had different ideas of what to do.

I am most proud of this project because we all did a great job
